SMS over RCS
Learn how to get your SMS upgraded to RCS with Netcore fallback mechanism.
Overview
The SMS over RCS service aims to upgrade SMS messages to RCS. Netcore provides an automated fallback mechanism that upgrades SMS messages to RCS (Rich Communication Services) when possible. If the RCS message fails to send, the system will automatically revert to SMS.
Prerequisites
Enable Jio Bot: You must reach out to Netcore’s support team to enable Jio Bot. Reach out to customer support at [email protected].
Workflow
- Campaign Sending Process:
- When an SMS campaign is sent via Bizbond or Netcore CE dashboard, we first attempt to send the message as an RCS message. If the webhook response indicates failure, an SMS will be sent instead.
- The Jio message-sending API is called first (if the feed ID/ channel associated with the campaign is linked to a Jio Bot).

There are no changes to the campaign creation flow for SMS. Refer to this document to know how to create & send a SMS campaign on the Netcore CE dashboard.
- Bot Selection for Messaging:
Create a dedicated bot to avail of the SMS over RCS upgrade. Based on your messaging needs, you can request our support team to create a bot tailored to your use case. Having the right bot ensures that your messages comply with messaging regulations. The types of bots created for RCS are the following:
- Promotional or Marketing Messages: If you want to send promotional communication, our support team will create a dedicated promotional bot.
- Transactional Messages: In case you want to send transactional messages communication, a dedicated transactional bot will be created by our support team.
Important Point to Remember
- A bot is linked to a single feed ID (multiple feed IDs can be linked to one bot, but a single feed ID cannot be linked to multiple bots).
- Reporting
- If you send SMS campaigns via API or Bizbond dashboard, view RCS count metrics on the Executive Summary page of the Bizbond dashboard.

View RCS Count on BizBond
- If you send SMS campaigns via the Netcore CE dashboard, the RCS count cannot be generated via a summary/ detailed report. Reach out to the customer support team if you wish to view the RCS count. Refer to this sheet to view existing sample SMS reports.
