Setup Optimized Dynamic Pricing
Control WhatsApp marketing costs with Optimized Dynamic Pricing. Set a max bid per template, preview spend before sending, and pay only for delivered messages.
Overview
Meta now delivers WhatsApp marketing messages through an auction instead of a flat rate. With Max Pricing, set the most value you are willing to pay per delivered message, and Meta charges that amount or less to win a delivery slot, never more than your cap.
In Netcore, this gives you pricing options when you build a marketing template and delivery cost control when you launch a campaign. Pick between standard pricing to keep Meta's flat rate, or optimized pricing to set your own max price, preview a delivery estimate before you commit, and adjust the amount later without sending the template back for approval.
For the explanation of the auction and how bidding works, see the Why Optimized Dynamic Pricing document.
Prerequisites
- Optimized pricing is enabled per WhatsApp Business Account (WABA). It is available only on WABAs where Meta has turned it on, so the pricing options is NOT available on every WABA.
- Optimized pricing applies to the Marketing message category ONLY. Choose between standard and optimized pricing while building a marketing template.
# Set Price for WhatsApp Template
- Log in to the Netcore CE dashboard and navigate to Content > WhatsApp to create a new template.
Refer here to learn how to create or use an existing template.
- Build your template using the different sections of the template creation, like text, header, footer, and buttons and click SAVE AND SUBMIT. On the review approval page, enter the following details:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Language | Selected language for the template. |
| WABA ID | Selected WhatsApp Business Account ID.
|
| Category | Template category selected for approval. This should be Marketting. |
When the Category = Marketting and Meta has enabled Optimized Dynamic Pricing on the WABA ID,
Select the delivery cost per message between:
- Standard cost per message: It uses Meta's current flat rate, which is ₹0.86 for everyone.
- Optimized cost per message: This lets you set your own max price for the auction.
Optimized Cost Per Message
Enter the optimized rate you are willing to pay per message. The form shows a delivery estimate so you can see what that rate buys before you commit.
For example, an optimized rate of ₹2 shows an estimated spend of about ₹2,000 for 1,000 users, along with the nearest delivery estimate for that rate. Adjust the rate until the estimate works for you.
- Click Send for Approval for template approval to Meta.
Launch Campaign With Optimized Pricing
- Navigate to the WhatsApp Template listing page and click on the three dots on the template you want to use and click use in campaign.
- Create a campaign with the below section:
- Setup: Ensure you select the same WABA ID while sending for approval to Meta.
- Audience
- Content
- Schedule
Refer here to learn how to create a campaign using a WhatsApp template. On the Content section, select the optimized-pricing template created earlier. The Delivery optimization section shows the maximum optimized cost for the selected template. You can set the delivery cost using either control, and any change you make is reflected in the other automatically.
Refer to the table below to understand the Delivery Optimization fields and sample value.
| Field | Description | Sample Example |
|---|---|---|
| Template Name | Selected pre-approved WhatsApp message template. | MyTemplate |
| Delivery Boost Multiplier | Multiplier applied to increase the likelihood of message delivery. Available options: 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1.00, 1.25, or Custom. | 1.25 (Selected) |
| Max Delivery Cost (Per User) | Maximum delivery cost allowed for a message per user. | 1.25 |
| Max Delivery Cost | The highest amount Meta can charge for delivering a message to a single user. | ₹1.125 per user |
| Total Delivery Amount | Estimated total delivery cost for every 1,000 messages. | ₹1125 / 1000 messages |
| Meta Reach Estimate | Displays estimated delivery reach based on the selected optimization settings. | NA |
Campaign Reach Guidance
- Higher delivery costs can improve campaign reach, especially for time-sensitive campaigns.
- Lower delivery costs may reduce audience reach, and charges apply only to successfully delivered messages.
- For example, a ₹0.90 template with a 1.25 multiplier resolves to ₹1.125 per user and ₹1,125 per 1,000 messages.
- Complete campaign set up and click SAVE AND PREVIEW and SAVE & PUBLISH to send the campaign.
Update Optimized Amount
Meta allows to change only the optimized price without sending the template back for approval, so you can experiment with your bid. When you update the amount, every campaign using that template is affected, so the change is confirmed in two steps.
- Open the template and edit the optimized amount, for example from ₹0.90 to ₹1.
- A confirmation popup lists the campaigns this change will impact. Review it and confirm you want to proceed.
- Enter the new amount and save. Every listed campaign updates to the new amount.
- Everyone in the panel with access to these campaigns receives an email confirming the amount was updated.
Heads up
Updating the amount changes the bid for all campaigns that use this template at once. Check the impact list in the confirmation popup before you save.
Use Case: Festive Sale
You are running a time-sensitive festive sale and you have to send a marketing offer to 50,000 customers on WhatsApp. Since the sale ends soon, for a strong delivery, so you are willing to pay a little above standard to win more slots.
Prerequisites
- Your WABA has optimized pricing enabled.
- The standard marketing rate for India is ₹0.86 per message.
.1. You start by build the template with optimized pricing.
- Start by creating the marketing template with your offer copy, image, and a call-to-action button.
- You select the Marketing category, choose Optimized cost per message, and enter an optimized rate of ₹0.90, slightly above the ₹0.86 standard to push delivery.
- The delivery estimate updates as you type, so you can see what ₹0.90 buys before you commit. You click Send for Approval. Once approved, the template carries a maximum optimized cost of ₹0.90.
- Create a campaign and select that approved template. Because it uses optimized pricing, the Delivery optimization section appears and shows the maximum optimized cost for the template is ₹0.90.
- You pick your audience of 50,000 and set any exclusions as usual. In Delivery optimization, you set a Delivery boost multiplier of 1.25.
The Effective delivery amount sent to Meta updates to ₹1.125 per user and ₹1,125 per 1,000 messages, so your spend is capped at roughly ₹56,250 for the full audience.
- Open Meta reach estimate to confirm the reach looks right, then schedule and send.
Meta runs the auction for each message. For every delivery, you pay the cost to win that slot or your ₹1.125 cap, whichever is lower, and never more.
Important Point to Remember
- You pay for messages that are delivered successfully, so undelivered messages cost nothing.
- Since you bid above the standard rate, more of your sale messages land during peak demand than the old flat rate would have allowed.
A week on, you want to experiment with a higher bid for the next send. You open the template and change the optimized amount from ₹0.90 to ₹1.00. A popup lists every campaign this change will affect, you confirm, and all of them update to the new amount. Everyone in the panel with access gets an email confirming the change. The template does not go back for approval.
TakewayYou set a ceiling, paid at or below it per delivered message, paid only for messages that landed, and bought extra reach for a campaign that needed it. Had you instead bid below ₹0.86, you would have paid less per message, but some sends might not have been delivered during busy periods.
Troubleshoot and FAQ
Can I use optimized pricing for all WABA IDs?
No. On an enabled WABA you choose between standard and optimized pricing for each marketing template. Standard keeps Meta's current flat rate.
Why don't I see the pricing options?
Optimized pricing is enabled per WABA and applies to the Marketing category. If your WABA is not enabled, or the template is not a marketing template, the options do not appear.
Will I ever be charged more than the amount I set?
No. Your optimized rate is a maximum. Meta charges that amount or less to win a delivery slot, never more.
What happens if my bid is too low?
If the cheapest available slot costs more than your bid, that message may not deliver at that moment. It may retry later, or not deliver at all.
What is the difference between the multiplier and the max delivery cost in a campaign?
They are two ways to set the same limit. A multiplier calculates your max delivery cost, and a max delivery cost back-calculates the multiplier. Use whichever is easier for you to think in.
Is the delivery estimate a guarantee?<br />
No. The estimate helps you choose a rate. Actual delivery depends on the live auction, your message quality, and recipient value at send time.
